Breakdown
Bernard Hopkins vs Sergey Kovalev
I think Kovalev is too patient and physically strong for the tricks Hopkins will try to play on him. Kovalev will score with heavy shots any time the opportunity arises. Eventually I see Kovalev winning by TKO when all the power shots have taken its toll on Hopkins.
Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KO) is a boxing legend, who has defied time and the odds repeatedly, something he'll have to do once again. He defeated Beibut Shumenov to win the WBA light heavyweight world championship, breaking his own record as the oldest fighter in history to win a world title, which he set in May 2011 after defeating Jean Pascal at age 46.
Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KO) represents a totally different style matchup than the other fighters who have genuinely troubled Hopkins in recent years, notably Joe Calzaghe and Chad Dawson, a pair of athletic southpaws who weren't broken by Hopkins' veteran savvy and mind games, along with his boxing acumen.
